View this email in your browser Scroll down for the English השבוע נקבל בברכה את חודש כסלו. שמו של החודש, כמו שמות של חודשים עבריים אחרים, אומץ על ידי היהודים שחיו בבבל בזמן הגלות ועלה איתם ארצה לאחר חזרתם. מקור השם כסלו באכדית kissilīmu (כיסילימו) שפירושה עבה ושמן כי החודש מעובה ומלא בגשמים. אנו תקווה שכסלו אשר מביא עמו את חג החנוכה יביא גם הרבה גשמים לישראל. בתי הספר נמצאים בעשייה תאומותית שוקקת. כמו בכל קשר עם חברים חדשים וקבוצה חדשה אנו לומדות ולומדים דברים חדשים זה על זה וזו מזו ומעמיקים את ההיכרות האישית והקהילתית. כמו תמיד, ההיכרות עם האחר מעשירה ומלמדת אודות עצמנו ועל ההשתייכות למסגרת יותר גדולה - העם היהודי. כך גם כשאנו נפגשים במסגרת קשרי התאומות וכך גם עם גלי העלייה לישראל - כל עולה וכל גל הביאו איתם מנהגים חדשים המעשירים את כולנו. יהדות אתיופיה הביאה עמה גם את חג הסיגד שנציין השבוע ביום חמישי. החג מציין את הכמיהה לציון, 50 ימים אחרי יום הכיפורים ומדמה את קבלת התורה. במידעון החודש תוכלו למצוא פעילויות בנושא ערבות הדדית ועליית יהודי אתיופיה לצד הצעות לפעילויות לקראת חג החנוכה שנציין בסוף חודש כסלו. מאיתנו, צוות רשת בתי הספר התאומים   This week we welcome the Hebrew month of Kislev. The name of the month was adopted by Jews living in Babylon while in exile, and returned with them during their return to Zion. This is the case for most of the Hebrew months. Kislev comes from the Akkadian word- kissilimu which means thick and fat. Interpreters assume that this comes from the wish that the month will be full of thick clouds and lots of rain. We too hope that the month that also brings us Hanukkah will bring us much needed rain to Israel. Our twinning schools are busy forming and deepening relationships. As with any new connection we learn new things from each other and about each other’s community. Learning about others enriches and teaches me something about myself and at the same time it connects me to something larger than me - the Jewish People. This is the case with the twinning relationships as well as with the waves of Aliyah, immigration to Israel - each wave brought with it new customs that enrich us all. This week together with the Ethiopian community we mark the Sigd. This festival which symbolizes the yearn to return to Zion, celebrated 50 days after Yom Kippur also re-neacts the receiving of the Torah at Mt. Sinai. Yours, The Global School Twinning Network Team. חנוכה הוא חג עשיר בתוכן, מנהגים, מטעמים, משפחה ופעילויות. החג מהווה הזדמנות מצוינת לכיתות התאומות להעמיק את הקשר באמצעות שיתוף אודות מנהגים משפחתיים וקהילתיים, כיצד החג נחגג במרחב האישי והקהילתי/ ציבורי. חנוכה מזמן עיסוק בתכנים מגוונים: חגי אור בעולם, מנהיגות, נס, אמונה ועוד. מוזמנים לבקר בעמוד המוקדש לפעילויות חנוכה באתר רשת בתי הספר התאומים.   Hanukkah is a festival full of content, customs, flavors family and activities. This is a great opportunity for Twinning Classes to deepen their connection through sharing and discussing both family customs and communal ones. Looking at how the festival is celebrated in the private sphere, communal sphere and public sphere in each class's hometown, each one of these presents its own unique interesting challenge that can make for a great conversation. Hanukkah touches on many themes: spreading the light, leadership, candles as a cross cultural experience, miracles, etc. Please make sure you visit our Hanukkah page on our website. העלייה לישראל לאורך הדורות מעשירה ומרחיבה את המגוון ואת משמעות השייכות לעם היהודי בחברה הישראלית. העולים מזכירים לנו שאנחנו חלק מקולקטיב רחב יותר - העם היהודי. גלי העלייה הגדולים של יהדות אתיופיה החל משנות ה -80 משפיעים על החברה הישראלית ומשאירים עליה חותם. עליית יהודים לארץ מציפה את רעיון "כל ישראל ערבים זה בזה" (התלמוד הבבלי), ומהווה הזדמנות לשיח מעמיק עם כיתות התאומות על הנושא. לפעילות כל ישראל ערבים זה בזה, ולקריאה נוספת על קהילת ביתא ישראל. חג סיגד שמח לכולם.ן The Aliyah to Israel over the generation has enriched Israeli society and expanded our understanding of Jewish Peoplehood. The Olim help build a network of connections between different parts of the Jewish world. The waves of Olim of Ethiopian Jews during the 1980's left a mark on Israeli society and influenced it. Each wave reminds us of the notion of "Kol Israel Arevim Ze BaZe" (Babylonian Talmud), literally - mutual responsibility, and is a platform for a deep and interesting conversation about the concept. Wishing Everyone a very happy Sigd! דיווח מהשטח   From The Twinning Field התאומות בין דימונה לבין רשת הקהילות הקטנות בארה"ב החלה ב 2019, וכבר נרקמו קשרים בין ארבעה זוגות בתי ספר בתמיכה וליווי צמוד של רשת בתי הספר התאומים. התאומויות בין בתי הספר מעשירה את התלמידים וצוותי ההוראה. התלמידים לומדים על סביבת החיים של הכיתה התאומה ולומדים על חיים בישראל אל מול המורכבות והאתגרים של חיים יהודיים מחוץ לישראל. לימוד זה מאפשר העמקה של כל אחד ואחת בזהות היהודית של עצמו. השיחה בין הכיתות התאומות מתמקדת בשיתוף אורחות חיים, מנהגים, וחיי יומיום שמלמדים את כיתת התאומות משהו על התאומים שלהם ובו בזמן גם משהו על עצמם. The connection between Dimona and The Network of Independent Communities, in collaboration with the Global School Twinning Network began in 2019. 4 sets of twinned schools have created a connection they meat, learn together and are enriched by the experience.The students discuss common topics, share their daily lives with each other and compare customs and traditions.
